As soon as she sees the scar, and realizes what it is, the brief physical is over. Treston stands, giving the man one final look before saying, “No.” She then fires her lasgun into the man’s head. “On Mordian there is only one solution for traitors and heretics,” she says calmly, if not a bit coldly. She then turns back to the old couple, “My apologies. Where were we?” The heretic had no time to react as the Mordian Specialist executed him with a las round to the head. Adela has probably done it many times during the Grand March so one more wasn’t a big deal. Suffer not the heretic to live. As Specialist Treston moved back to the old couple she’d see them cowering by the wagon. It took them a moment to register she asked them a question before the man exclaimed “IDs!”. He turned to the woman and say, “Penelope, get the mug!” Penelope would move to the back of the wagon while the man took a moment to get his blue ID before tentatively stepping out with both his hands in front of him and walking slowly to meet with Adela. He’d hold his ID out to her, wincing a bit from his bad shoulder from earlier.
When the noble called out her thanks, Cudjal didn't show much notice. It did strike him as odd though. But why? He quickly dismissed the feeling as probably because he'd assume that a noble wouldn't care much about a name of a lowly PDF private, let alone remember it. But something still scratched at the back of his mind, something that was just not quite right... But, not letting it bother him too much, Cudjal carried on with his duty. He gave a waved to Bembenak as she lowered the barrier and took up his previous position just past the barrier line. He watched as the carriage drove on by, giving a visible nod at the lowered window and Candlemas wishes. He was about to return the wishes, when that something at the back of his mind finally dawned on him. During the entire event, he never mentioned his name. His eyes widening with sudden realization as he turned and watching the carriage carry on into the base, he simply stood there. Mute to do anything. What could he do? Stop the carriage again because some rich girl guessed his name? No a good option. By now the carriage was well past the point of his area of influence. And so, he continued to stare, fighting back the different elements of concern. Civvies really do get hit hard in this kind of long conflict, muses Prue, noting the pronounced change to the woman’s appearance. She hands back the ID and waves the family past. “Next please” With the car-carriage now gone the rest of the gate guard like Private Cudjal and Trooper Bembenak could now clearly see the rest of the lineup of civilians, which no new ones have joined, and the broken down cart with the old couple hiding by it. They also had a perfect view of Specialist Treston executing the runner. The next people that answered Specialist Dekker's call was a couple that seemed to be in their thirties. The man, in a leather jacket with brown hair combed back hair, would give a weak smile before offering his green ID to the Steel Legionnaire. "My wife doesn't have an ID," he stated. Said wife, in a burgundy dress that was mostly enveloped by a dull brown robe, would offer a nervous smile.

The sound of the lasgun discharging brought Vernard back to reality from wherever the passing oddity had sent him. He turned around and did a quick assessment of the current flow of the gate after the carriage's departure.
Man shot dead. Most likely deserved it. Flow of traffic? Only a trickle of people now. Work to be done? Might as well help the legionnaire.
With his mind readjusted, Cudjal walked over to support and cover Specialist Dekker just as the man mentioned that his wife didn't have a pass. He made an exaggerated effort to look behind the pair to the freshly shot stiff which lay in the snow behind them. "I don't think he had an ID either." Cudjal said indirectly, but loud enough for the pair to hear him.

Prue’s attention snaps to the discharging lasgun. At least he wasn’t shot in the back. The next civvie in line gives her his weak excuses and she offers a one-shoulder shrug, “Sorry, mate, no ID no entry. Best get her one sharpish, security round here always needs an ID.”

Adela shoulders her weapon again, as a sign that she has no intention of killing the old couple at this time.
“No need to be nervous, unless you have something to hide,” she says.
Treston takes the ID card from the man to Carefully look it over.
“What’s your cargo and purpose?” she asks calmly.

Ilona almost waved back to Cudjul. Almost. Mordians as a rule didn't wave. She gave him instead what she hoped was a firm nod and tried her best to look stoic and formal. This night was shaping up to be one she really, really wanted to forget.

She gave him instead what she hoped was a firm nod and tried her best to look stoic and formal. This night was shaping up to be one she really, really wanted to forget. Hearing Private Cudjal’s words, the couple got a bit nervous. “Bu… but they said that we could get IDs here. I did!” the man said, looking between Cudjal and Specialist Dekker along with bringing up his green ID he was already holding as proof, “I mean, where else are we supposed to get them?” The wife clung to his arm, obviously worried considering Cudjal’s comment. “My… my work said that… I could get one here,” she stammered to add. For Trooper Ilona's part, the only people left in line, a man and a child, were well behaved. That was probably because they were too busy shivering. Likely sensing this might take a bit, the man would crouch down and envelop the girl in the rags that could barely be classified as a blanket. While the temperature wasn't freezing, it was still fairly cold.

LanternO'Red Request: [4df+2] Roll: [+, +, , -] Result: 3 The ID was blue with the name Rupert Rumsmith. The address she recognized to be the same as Penelope’s, and the employer/sponsor was Rumsmith Brewing. The back had the print permitting him to do business in the Inner District along with the Administratum signature and stamp. The picture on the ID was a man with low fade, old slate black hair, round face with fair skin and a burn on his left cheek, close beard, and ale brown eyes. This indeed looked like the man before her as rubbed his hurt shoulder, saying, “It’s booze you see. I’m delivering it to a place called Tavern’s Harvest in the Outer Ring. Supposed to get there before tonight’s party was over but… yeah.” He’d nod to the broken wagon before sighing. “You said you wanted to see the contents of the cargo? Penelope has a mug for you if you want to check,” he’d wave to his wife, who stood at the back of the wagon with a mug.

The gas mask makes whispering ineffective, but Prue turns her head away from the civilians and leans toward Cudjal to ask in an undertone, “Where did the officer say the office to get IDs was?” Specialist Dekker had definitely paid attention to the briefing. Yup.

[[Roll to remember the brief=0]]
Although the Arbites helmet covered the top half of his face, the look of bewilderment was still clearly visible. "One moment." he whispered back before shuffling over to where Ilona was standing. "Do you remember where the officer said the office to get IDs was?" he whispered in turn to the Mordian.

Treston holds up a hand, “No thank you. No booze on duty.”
She looks around at the remains of the wagon shaking her head, “Don’t suppose there’s an easy way to clean this up and finish your delivery is there?”

Trooper Bembenek glanced to Cudjal, memorization had been beaten into her relatively early during her training within the Astra Militarum. "We detain them until a noble, commissar, officer or Munitorum official verifies them or takes them for processing." She replied flatly, trying desperately to sound as robotic as possible.
She pointed at the man and child and called out sternly, "You two, approach and present ID's." Her eyes stayed locked squarely at a point above the man's head, not wishing to look at the child. She didn't think she could handle that.

He once more about turned and shuffled his way back to where he had left the group of three. "Right then. You two follow me. I'll take you to... where we can process you." Cudjal said, drifting mid sentence as he tried to find a way to avoid saying the word 'cells' or 'lock up area'. With his intention both stated and possibly not stated, he began to lead the pair towards what definitely looked like a lockable holding cell...

With his intention both stated and possibly not stated, he began to lead the pair towards what definitely looked like a lockable holding cell... The couple watched as their question was passed down the line; getting increasingly worried until an actual answer was given. When Private Cudjal finally spoke to them they’d give a nod as the man tucked his ID back into his pocket. They’d follow Cudjal to wherever he took them. With Cudjal gone and Ilona tending to the last people in the line, Specialist Dekker now found herself alone at the wall.
She pointed at the man and child and called out sternly, "You two, approach and present ID's." Her eyes stayed locked squarely at a point above the man's head, not wishing to look at the child. She didn't think she could handle that. Since Trooper Bembenek was looking above the man’s head, she didn’t really see much except the man coming toward her. They’d stop a few feet away and she could hear a gruff voice croak, “Do you know if the Temple is open?”
Treston holds up a hand, “No thank you. No booze on duty.” She looks around at the remains of the wagon shaking her head, “Don’t suppose there’s an easy way to clean this up and finish your delivery is there?” Penelope would give Specialist Treston a nod before putting the mug away. Rupert would sigh as he too looked at where a wheel should be. When Adela would ask her question he’d rub his shoulder in thought. “Well, it’s fixable… but I don’t have a replacement wheel. Unless you guys have one laying around… I guess… maybe Penelope could go to the Tavern and ask around. It’s gonna take a while though, especially if no one there can help,” he sighed, “If you want this moved off the road I’m gonna need some help.”

Prue looks around for something useful to do now, and spots the cart still stuck on the road. She give Ilona a tap on the shoulder and gestures at the cart, “I’m gonna go get that shifted.” She trudges over and looms behind Treston. “Need a hand with that?”

Ilona gave Prue a solemn nod, and then after a beat turned her attention back to the man and his . . .child. She allowed her hard eyes to fall just a bit and stare at the man with a cold expression. "No clue." she stated flatly, "Do you have ID or not?" As an afterthought, she asked "Your reason for entry is the temple, then?"

Treston is a bit surprised that Dekker would offer to help. Not that she thought poorly of the other trooper, but rather she expected after their initial interaction, Prue would not think highly of her.
Adela smiles, behind her scarf, “Yes, thank you. If we can’t get this cart moving, we at least need it off the road so that it can’t be used as cover by any hostiles.”
She pauses before adding, “And if your regiment allows, the one called Penelope can offer you a sample.”
