“Oh only now and then, or whenever I’m too close to a plasma generator. And I remember still beating your flabby terran muscles a week out of the Medicae.” Karst chuckled at Lucas remark on his wound. He did whistle when he heard the number of warp spawn had besieged terra. He had known things were bad after the Fall, but he hadn’t expected so much to get through. A sudden bite of guilt hit Krast, but he pushed it aside without Luca noticing he hoped. He listened to the story of how Luca got into the Crusade fleet, hearing about the return of one of the actual Sons of the Emperor. He had thought that was just rumor, something for the troops to whisper about in the face of the Archenemy.
“Frak,” karst rubbed his face as he thought on all that, “Hell feels like a decade for me, but my Chrono says its been maybe 6 for me. Warp nonsense I guess.” He was about to tell Luca about the old 335th, and while it wasn’t the same after the Fall it was still a better lot than most, a voice like a rockslide cut in.
Karst damn near laughed hearing DeGrotto chew luca out like he was a trooper who’s paint hadn’t even dried over their white shield. He looked over and nodded to the Priestess and potioned to a nearby seat.
“DeGrotto, I can see you haven’t lost any of your bite. Still chewing out Munitorum clerks for taking too long, sir?” Karst asked, adding the proper sir even though he was sure he had the rank over the older man.

De Grotto fixed the Terran with a stern, and to those present, all to familiar stare. "In the Imperial Guard, it is usually custom for lower ranks to address their superiors by rank and at the very least, not in such a casual manner! I would have expected more of a man from not only such a respected regiment, but from Holy Terra itself!" Scolded De Grotto. Whether the old man had not noticed the younger man's current rank or was simply being senile, once more was anyone's guess...
