The blue represents the oceans that dominate the planet. The anchor is an ode to their name and naval traditions on sea and in space. The red and cog pays homage to Mars. The spikes on the anchor represent the crystals which is one of its unique exports.

Geography
Anchorus is an ocean world and only has two natural continents. There are a few man made islands though used as collection points for materials, factories for manufactured goods like weapons, and barracks for Skitarii. Anchorus has unique crystals that grow in caves underwater.
The Mechanicus on Anchorus have strong naval traditions thanks to being based on an ocean planet and building space ships. This goes as far as to even using naval terms for things, such as using starboard and port when using land vehicles. Because of this they enjoy a good working relationship with the Imperial Navy. Due to this being an ocean planet, it’s incredibly rare that any resident, be they servitor or Magos, doesn’t have some sort of apparatus to breath underwater. The Anchorus priesthood pays homage to Mars but it’s little more than lip service for they see themselves as largely independent of the Red Planet. The Anchorans see the God-Emperor as an avatar of the Omnissiah. While one may think this would make them closer to the Ecclesiarchy, it’s instead strained for they have little tolerance of the politicking and abrasiveness of the God-Emperor’s servants. They seek expedient solutions to problems and the Ecclesiarchy more often than not gets in the way. Otherwise, the Anchorans are largely cooperative with the other Imperium organizations.
Military
Most of Anchorus’ military might is through its large naval fleets and mechanized infantry in the form of Skitarii riding Skorpius Duneriders. With the heavy emphasis on naval traditions and large space stations it’s only natural for them to have many ships and fighters to man them. The Skitarii have been adapted to not only breath underwater but withstand the potentially extreme pressures of deep water. This adaption also allows them to survive in the void for a limited amount of time, making them excellent marines for space ships. The Skitarii have been programmed to have more independence than others but are also fanatically loyal to their Tech Priest commanders; obeying them absolutely. This can cause some conflicts when given countermanding or paradoxical orders, defaulting to holding ground with their lives when such things come up. To avoid this, large forces are headed by few commanders and Skitarii are directed to make the orders of Domini priority over Tech Priests of other disciplines. With the planet being an ocean world, the Anchorans make extensive use of Skorpius hovercraft with Duneriders, having a cover to keep the inside sealed when used on their homeworld.
Since most of its manufacturing might is spent in spacecraft, weapons, hovercraft, and Skitarii, other units beyond that rarely appear in Anchorus forces. Onager Dunecrawlers and Archeopters can appear in small numbers in larger forces but everything else is largely absent since most of it is impractical to use on an ocean world. A standard order of battle is a force made up largely of Vanguard Skitarii in transports with Ranger sniper teams and Skorpius Disintegrators providing support. Sicarians, Pteraxii, and Serberys are rarer but often used in harassment or assassination. Special weapons for Skitarii are almost exclusively Plasma Calivers or Transuranic Arquebus’ since using Arc weapons underwater is ill advised. The one exception is Arc Mauls since they don’t need to be on to be effective.
The Tech Priests provide all the technical assistance for the planet in exchange for the foodstuffs it produces. The Anchorans are currently feuding with the Ecclesiarchy over influence on the planet. They want to make things more efficient and ‘enlighten’ the masses from the ignorance the Ecclesiarchy preaches.
Anchorus Forces on Haven’s Garden
Before the Great Rift, there was a small military force in the form of squads of Skitarii Rangers defending space ports. The opening of the Great Rift, however, is forcing the Anchorans to secure their holdings. Since they mainly get their food from Haven’s Garden, they have given the planet their support in the form of a full Macrolade under the experienced Tech Priestess Magos Domina Kelvaila Sigma-72. As the war continues on, however, the force is thinning down as they take losses. Kelvaila mainly stays in the capital to better coordinate her efforts with other Imperium leaders and has the 1st Cohort in the city acting both as a guard and reserve force.
The Anchorus 3rd Macrolade is mainly made up of Skitarii Rangers with a Skorpius Duneriders for almost every squad. Unusually absent are Skitarii Vanguard and Serberys Sulphorhounds since their radiation would damage not only friendly non-Mech troops but potentially poison the agri world. Sicarians and Serberys Raiders also appear alongside a small group of Onager Dunecrawlers. While she’s in possession units beyond these, they are few and rarely used in an effort to conserve them.
