Name: Yul Altanbaatar
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Age: 29
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 230 lbs
Allegiance: Imperium/Civilian
Rank/Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Notes: There’s always an air of arrogance about him that you don’t get from commoners, yet he appears as one.
Born: Plenty, Haven’s Garden
Languages Spoken: Low Gothic, High Gothic
Appearance:
Draped in dark leathers to shelter him from the biting winds on a ride, with patches of armor hidden beneath, and a broad-brimmed hat to keep the sun at bay; he looks every bit the roguish bounty hunter at first glance. Tall and imposing, he keeps his hair long and wild, tied back loosely to keep it out of his face. His face is framed with a light beard- and he looks generally rough around the edges; Though there is something aristocratic about his features. He has dark brownish-black hair and sharp, dark blue eyes- a strange color to be found naturally, perhaps a cosmetic augmentation made in the past.
History:
A ‘former’ scion of House Altanbaatar, Yul has been through his share of triumphs and tribulations, and he now wallows in disgrace among the elite of Plenty. From both winning the title of heir to succeed his House and helping it climb in trade, power and status, to the sudden fall of House Altanbaatar, named dubiously as traitors and heretics for siding with the T’au after the occupation of Plenty; He has seen and experienced it all, both the mountain peaks of gilt and glory, and the deepest wells of scorn and ignominy.
Yul bore the humiliation with little grace, having fallen to the lowest of the low in merely days. He slummed it with unmentionables; traded anything of value he had for a scrap to eat and a roof overhead; and picked up the odd jobs here and there to earn a throne for the day after. He has since distanced himself from the ‘fallen’ part of House Altanbaatar, and cut off from his main source of support and income, taken up bounty hunting and mercenary work. No longer too proud to do dirty work, he now serves other Loyalist Nobility who are still in good standing with the Imperium, and at times the Guard’s postings, hunting down fugitives who had attempted to run in the Coward’s Dash, or who had capitulated to the T’au forces, should they leave the safety of their besieged city center.
Personality:
Not quite taciturn, Yul is distrusting of others until proven trustworthy again and again… And even then, he won’t trust a person as far as he can throw them so much as he trusts their cash flow. He is very mercenary in his approach to jobs and requests, and rarely, if ever, would do favors in exchange for nothing. He has a pretty dark sense of humor, and can be a bit cynical in the face of hope. He enjoys a good drink and story now and then, however, to daydream and escape the harsh reality of the present.
Equipment:
- Motorbike - [Kalydonios Pattern]
- Laspistol
- Stub-Rifle with a Magnifying Scope
- Hunting Knife
- Leather riding clothing: Coat, Chaps, Trousers, Boots, Gloves, Hat
- Repurposed Flak chest Armor and Bracers
- ‘Saddlebags’ full of essentials: Extra Shirts, Doppler bag of toiletries, Flask, Lighter, Whetstone, Pack of lho-sticks
- Bedroll
- Binders (handcuffs)
- ~30ft of Rope
Vehicle:
Second hand Enforcer motorbike [Kalydonios Pattern] bought off the black-market when the city ‘fell’. It has had any previous affiliation’s logos and labels scrubbed off its surface, and been repainted a dark, matte black. Over time, nicks and scratches in the paint have marred the repainted surface, but the bike is kept in good, working condition by its owner.
A rack has been mounted over the back wheel, arguably for carrying cargo, and has more often than not been used to ferry a caught fugitive back, dead or alive.
Yul practically lives off of his bike, having most of his worldly possessions packed on saddlebags on the vehicle, if not on his person. He has no long term claims to a hab-unit of any kind.
Characteristics
High Concept
Got off my high-horse, No job is too dirty
Having once been a scion of a noble house, he was above and too proud to do the work that “lesser” and servant folk performed; But having fallen on desperate times, he is now willing to do any job to survive.
Trouble
Master of my fate, Captain of my soul
Raised in a highly competitive and ruthless environment, this cultivated a sense of distrust in anyone other than himself. One’s plans are best kept to oneself and can be foiled by others. He is reluctant to share his thoughts or feelings on many things; instead relying on his own headstrong decisions and determinations, since it has been what’s keeping him alive.
Aspect
Money talks, Virtue can walk
With a serial distrust of other humans, the only thing that Yul can trust is cold hard cash. It’s Thrones that make the world go ‘round, and what keeps you fed and sheltered at the end of the day. Money can certainly turn his head.
Stunts
Man On The Job
+2 when being Careful about covering tracks or getting into a restricted area; Picking a lock or leaving no traces.
Bounty Hunter’s Gambit
+2 when using a Clever check to anticipate motives, outmaneuver or trap a target.
Macgyver
Because Yul has had to rely on only himself to complete jobs, once a game session he can jerry-rig a useful item (like a trap, or a makeshift bomb) or fix something small and mechanical (whacking a computer to start it up, hotwiring a car, etc.).

House Altanbaatar
“House” Altanbaatar is an old dynasty, established in the early colonization efforts of Haven’s Garden. It was led by a Patriarch, Khasar Altanbaatar, and his council of cousins and siblings; The ruling structure had an appointed Clan leader, with advisors from each immediate family. After the Naming of Khasar to the Little-Dawn throne, there was a tenuous peace that finally settled among the older generation, though with the naming of the next heir being from their pool of progeny, a new war for succession began soon after the dust settled. Little stood in the way of siblings and cousins (With the aid of parents, uncles and aunts), now turned rivals for their shot at the Little-Dawn.
As the oldest of this current generation of children of House Altanbaatar, of Khasar’s blood, Yul was nominally named the rightful Heir in the bid for succession; However, that didn’t guarantee that the title would pass to him naturally. The position was fiercely fought over by the oldest scions of House Altanbaatar, the sons and daughters of the previous head and their cousins were all eligible to be appointed as long as they proved their worth.
Over the next few years, Yul would go out and do meaningful work on behalf of the House to train and prepare himself for taking the role as head of the clan; Should he continue to serve the House in a satisfactory manner, provide for it, and survive the competition.
When the T’au forces began to convert the masses of Plenty to their cause, providing the support the beleaguered cityfolk needed, Khasar Altanbaatar mysteriously disappeared. The elders of the House unanimously voted to cooperate with the T’au for the survival of their House, due to the lightening of expenses and the protection the T’au would provide. Yul refused to follow this ruling, and was cast out from House Altanbaatar, for not agreeing with the future ahead of the house and doing everything to protect it.
Since being ousted from his position as heir, Yul’s cousin, Temulun Altanbaatar, has been named the heir to the Little-Dawn.
